As we all know, the Japanese ex-prime minister, MR. Shinzo Abe, was shot dead by a Japanese citizen in Nara City, Japan at about 8 am (Japan time). At the time when he was shot dead, he was campaigning for his party for an upcoming election in the upper house of Japan. Yamagami Tetsuya, was arrested by police for shooting at Abe. He is 41 years old. Some of the sources said that he was retired from the Japanese navy after that and became a professor at a Japanese university.
The incident that took place today is very surprising for all over the world because Japan is a very simple and gun culture-free country. People in Japan are laborious, hardworking, and nonviolent in nature; 90 percent of the population believes in Buddha, as we are all aware of how Ashoka accepted the Buddha religion and spread nonviolence throughout the world. After World War 2, Japan has decided to not indulge in any war for future upliftment. Japan has taken numerous steps toward this end, including deciding to entrust their security to the United States.
Japan has a population of 127 million people, and they have only recorded 10 deaths in a year on rare occasions by using guns. Japan has always had strict rules and laws regarding gun issuing and licensing of guns. Japan was the first nation to impose gun laws in the whole world. Japan is a future-predicting country and acts accordingly, so why did they impose very harsh restrictions regarding gun issuing provisions?
If a Japanese person wants to own a gun, they must attend an all-day class and pass a written test, and the accuracy in the shooting range test must be more than equal to 95 percent. Also, the issuing process is very long and complicated. Like the person who is applying for a gun, there were many tests done on him. If he passes all the tests like physical tests, mental tests, and psychological tests, and if he passes these tests, then a personal interview will be done to close relatives of that person. Then the gun is issued. But every three years, these tests are repeated. If he fails, the license is canceled. If he passes, the license continues. This process will go on.
Let`s talk about the death of Sinzo Abe. He was a great leader. He became leader who is accepted in all over the world. He was also very much popular in his own country for his policies like Abenomics which was popular in Japan at his tenure. Its economic policy based on monetary easing policy.
During his tenure, relations between India and Japan improved day by day. Abe was a great friend to India, as stated by foreign policy experts on many occasions. One who made an intensive effort to stabilize and deepen the strategic ties and good relations between India and Japan. He was also credited with initiating the quadrilateral dialogue, or Quad, to counter the aggression of China. To unite all four democracies—India, Japan, the United States, and Australia—on one platform to counter China's presence in the Indo-pacific ocean.
India's Prime Minister, along with many world leaders, tweeted about this incident. Pm Modi stated that "I am shocked and saddened beyond words at the tragic demise of one of my dearest friends, Shinzo Abe. He was a towering global statesman, an outstanding leader, and a remarkable administrator. He dedicated his life to making Japan and the world a better place.". India also gave him 2nd highest civilian award, Padama Vibhushan, in the year 2021. India has declared a day of mourning on July 9 as a mark of respect for Abe.
So lets pray for him and his family members and for Japan to come out from these tough situation.
